Oh my!

When I am not driving my husband crazy, stealing his tools, or redecorating the house, I also enjoy cooking and playing hostess. One of the best things about our get togethers is the food! If you have been to any gathering or party with me, chances are you have tasted fruit dip! Fruit dip is great with fresh strawberries, apples, grapes, pineapple, etc.

Fruit Dip:
1 pkg. cool whip, thawed
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar

Mix together & chill for as long as you can stand it, or don't. Either way its delicious & super easy!

So good, you could pretty much bathe in it! But what to do when you have just a little leftover fruit dip?? Have the most amazing breakfast ever, that's what! Toast bagel. Smother in fruit dip. Top with fresh strawberries and try not to devour it in three bites :)

Make this, you won't regret it!

It started with a bed...

It has been a couple weeks in the making, but the bench is finally finished!!  The weather managed to slow this project down, but together the hubby & I made my vision happen.

I had seen my first upcycled bench a few years ago, but the $200 price tag kept me walking...especially when I felt like I could make one myself. Don't you love that little voice in the back of your head? The one that makes you feel like Super Woman and you can take on anything? Well, easier said than done. It wasn't a difficult project, but one that requires two people and a little trial and error.

This is what we started with:
(this is not my photo, I'm really terrible at before pictures, but this is identical to the set I picked up.)

First, we cut the footboard down the middle and took a few inches off each side, so the seat wouldn't be quite so deep. We then attached those as the sides.

From there it was a little trial and error with the making of the seat, due to the fact that we are not experienced craftsmen craftladies craftspeople? Haha. But believe it or not, there was no arguing. Score.

After a little more building and lots of sanding and painting, we ended up with this:

I LOVE IT perfectly distressed & we made it together. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

I know my steps aren't very descriptive (I'm new to this), but if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send me a message. This definitely won't be the last bench we make together...we have already talked over plans for one to go with our dining room table!

*Update: Super excited to announce this project has been featured at Better After!

Back in the swing of things!

Now that the holiday season is behind us, I am finally getting back to doing things I enjoy! It seems as if the time of year that you are supposed to spend the most time with your family, is when I actually see them the least. Oh, the joys of retail.

So, a few things I have figured out lately:
1. I need to stop getting so excited about new projects and take some before pictures.
2. Figure out how to get decent after pictures with the camera I have.
3. Show the things I make, paint, or create. So far I think this is a step in the right direction.

I am hoping to start a small online shop, or possibly rent a booth locally. For now, here are a few more recent projects.

It needs some fluffing, but here is the Tarheel wreath.

Please ignore the Christmas wreath holder, I seemed to have gotten them switched when packing up the decorations.

Pretty Spring arrangement for Mom's door.

A few Distressed frames.

I repainted a birdcage to add some extra color.

Last is one of my favorite projects ! They are hilarious & unexpected...trophy wine bottle stoppers. I had to make a basketball themed one for the hubby :)

Believe it or not, there are MORE projects I have been working on, but I will just have to save those until later!!
